Natural Products Obtained from Argentinean Native Plants Are Fungicidal against Citrus Postharvest Diseases

چکیده
Natural products obtained from plants constitute an alternative to chemically synthesized fungicides, whose improper use might have caused the development of resistant fungal strains. In present work, 40 20 native Argentinean plant species were tested against three citrus postharvest pathogens: Penicillium digitatum, italicum, and Geotrichum citri-aurantii. by classical solvent extraction methods fungicidal evaluation was carried out agar diffusion tests using commercial fungicides as negative controls dimethyl sulfoxide a positive one. The inhibition percentages determined 7 14 days post inoculation each fungus. Most showed higher than 50% for G. citri-aurantii, but only 20% them active P. digitatum italicum. most promising which inhibited (100%) growth at least one phytopathogens extracted following plants: Orthosia virgata, Petiveria alliacea, Funastrum clausum, Solanum caavurana, pilcomayense. These over inoculated oranges there no statistically significant differences between treatments with fungicide methanolic extract in control fruit rot. potential, further studies are required.

Natural Fungicides Obtained from Plants
Fungicides belong to a group of pesticides which inhibited fungal growth either causing damage to the cells or preventing the fungal development. As pesticides, they offer great economic and social benefits through the protection and preservation of materials, food and the prevention of diseases. Since pesticides are designed specifically to fight harmful or even dangerous life forms and theref...
متن کاملControl of Citrus Postharvest Diseases by Physical Means
Economic losses due to fungal postharvest diseases are among the most important concerns of the citrus industry worldwide. Typically, these diseases have been successfully controlled by the application of synthetic chemical fungicides. However, human health risks and environmental contamination associated with chemical residues and the proliferation of resistant strains of the pathogens are maj...

متن کاملSynergism between natural products and antibiotics against infectious diseases.
Antibiotics have been effective in treating infectious diseases, but resistance to these drugs has led to the emergence of new and the reemergence of old infectious diseases. One strategy employed to overcome these resistance mechanisms is the use of combination of drugs, such as beta-lactams together with beta-lactamase inhibitors. Several plant extracts have exhibited synergistic activity aga...
